Description
Poor knife originating from the Tuscan Maremma area produced in Scarperia since the mid-1800s. The first certain information on this model dates back precisely to 1848. The most famous example is dated 1871 and belonged to a convicted bandit named "PESCECANE" and is still preserved in the State Archives of Florence, annex of all the procedural documents. The name of the cutler from Scarperia to whom it was commissioned, Gustavo Buffi, is still clearly visible on the blade. The shape of the pot-bellied but slender blade recalls a leaf and is the main feature of this knife, built from a single solid piece, in the case of the horn from a single ox point cut in the middle to make room for the blade and the spring. Many they were the versions produced in Scarperia and the older examples were decorated with engravings called "stripes" along the entire handle. Open size 23 cm Blade length 10.5 cm Weight 82g
